Expository Essay

Expository Essay Expository Essay

The name of this type of an essay speaks for itself. The word “expository” means – involving, or assisting in exposition; explanatory (Collins English Dictionary). Or another source gives such meaning of this word – serving to expound, set forth, or explain: expository writing (Random House Kernerman Webster’s College Dictionary). That implies the purpose of expository essay to expose and explain some subject, person or situation.

Expository Essay Example

Expository essay is simply essay that explains something with facts, rather than opinions. So this type of writing is to explain, inform, or describe things. The essay designed to expound a main idea from the topic in a logical way.

The topic can give you a prompt to essay writing. It can use the following words “explain”, “describe”, “define”, etc. There is no need to form opinion or arguments, just write simple and clear. Nevertheless, an expository essay is not easy writing at all. There need to be an ability of explaining something well. The biggest difficulty of expository essay writing is a lack of any creative possibilities.

The last thing to remember, an important rule about this writing is that there is no rule.

Expository of Influenza Vaccine and Scientists Researches Writing Example

According to the World Health Organization Influenza occurs globally with an annual attack rate estimated at 5%–10% in adults and 20%–30% in children. The most effective way to prevent the disease and severe outcomes from the illness is a vaccination. It works by training your body’s immune system to both recognize and fight the flu. Therefore, each year the scientists formulate the flu vaccine to protect against the influenza viruses expected during the upcoming season.

There are two influenza (flu) vaccines. The first one, called “flu shot”, is an inactivated vaccine which contains killed virus and is given by an injection into the muscle. The second is a nasal-spray flu vaccine that contains weakened live viruses. After getting vaccinated, your body needs about two weeks to create the immune response to protect against infection by viruses similar to those in the vaccine. So it is important to get vaccination at the beginning of the flu season.

The formula of the influenza viruses in the seasonal flu vaccine is changed every year according to the recommendations of scientists from the World Health Organization. They predict which strains of flu virus are most likely to appear the next season. It is founded on surveillance-based forecasts about what virus strains are circulating, how they are spreading; and how well current vaccine will protect against newly identified strains in the coming season.

About 130 national influenza centers in 101 countries conduct year-round surveillance for influenza. These laboratories collect virus specimens in their country and perform preliminary analysis. They also send influenza viruses to the five World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centers for Reference and Research on Influenza located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC); London, United Kingdom (National Institute for Medical Research); Beijing, China (National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention); Tokyo, Japan (National Institute for Infectious Diseases); and Melbourne, Australia (Victoria Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory) for advanced antigenic and genetic analysis.

We can help you write your “type of paper”

Based on WHO recommendations for inclusion specific influenza viruses in the vaccine each particular country makes their decision for which strains should be used in influenza vaccines licensed in their country. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defines which vaccine viruses will be used in U.S.

The commonly used vaccine (trivalent, inactivated influenza vaccine or TIV) covers three strains: one influenza A (H3N2) virus, one seasonal influenza A (H1N1) virus, and one influenza B virus. However, starting with the 2013-2014 Northern hemisphere influenza season, quadrivalent vaccine composition (QIV) has been recommended by WHO with a second influenza B virus in addition. Quadrivalent influenza vaccines are expected to provide wider protection against influenza B virus infections. Even so, influenza remains unpredictable, and sometimes a strain which is not covered in the vaccine can emerge during the flu season.

Influenza viruses mutate seasonally, so the vaccine needs to be updated every year to match the expected strains. To prevent such horrible pandemic that occurred in November 2009 that attacked more than 206 countries and brought over 6,250 deaths. For that reason the World Health Organization’s scientists continue their researches every year to prove more effective influenza vaccine for the next season.

RE-RAG-RUG - design exhibition at the Swedish Institute

RE-RAG-RUG – design exhibition at the Swedish Institute Type

From fall of the textile industry, two Swedish designers create 12 carpets, in 12 months, using 12 craft techniques. A reflection on the value of an object and the importance of design in manufacturing and in the recycling process.

In 2012, Katarina Katarina Evans Brieditis and re-launched rag-rug - an art project with the ecological and social dimensions that takes the form of a challenge around the trasmatta, carpet recycled fabrics object in Scandinavian popular culture (rag-rug in English).

The artists gave themselves 12 months to create, by hand, 12 prototypes, using 12 craft techniques.
1 month, 1 technique, 1 mat.
Taking only materials known as "worthless" - falls in the textile industry or T-shirts that were discarded - they try to make partsof "value" and especially durable. The guiding principle of their work is the design and intrinsic creative process and no compromise on quality.

The exhibition presents 12 prototypes and a look at sobering consumption today and viability of industrial production. When does a recycled object take a market value? What added value is design? What will happen when the current trend " Do-It-Yourself" aesthetics, falls out of fashion?

Institut Tessin or Centre Culturel Suedois In Paris France

The Collection of the Institut Tessin, or Ticino as it is also known, holds a very important place in the Centre Culturel Sudois since it opened its doors in 1971, and contains approximately 600 paintings, more than 5000 works on paper, which include drawings, prints and watercolours plus books and other interesting items that we mentioned above.

The Swedish collection is now under the responsibility of the National Museum in Stockholm, but is still situated at the Htel de Marle, which is located in the heart of the Marais district of Paris .

The Htel de Marle was built in 1560 but in the 1800's it was divided into apartments and commercial premises which were used by painters writers and for other trades such as upholstering and a laboratory.

Yet in 1965, the Htel de Marle was purchased by the Swedish government after the cultural advisor and historian Gunnar W Lundberg had persuaded them to do so.

They restored the building with the founder Gunnar Lundberg's idea of using it as a cultural centre and temporary housing for Swedish people who were staying in Paris and were studying Parisian culture, along with the display of the immense collection, which totals around 6000 works.

Today, the ground floor of the Ticino is always occupied by temporary exhibitions and the first floor is what houses the permanent exhibits. There is also a theatre that hosts concerts, films, plays and literary meetings, plus the Htel de Marle wings have five studios for artists and Swedish researchers.

There is a very comprehensive library that is home to art collections and documentation, but this is where one can also learn about modern Swedish culture and the modern country of Sweden itself.

We all know that Paris is a multicultural city and within the courtyard of the building you can find a true Swedish cafe, which serves traditional food.

The Centre Culturel Sudois is open from a Tuesday through to Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm until 6pm for the permanent exhibitions. It is always closed on a Monday and both French and Swedish holidays.

The temporary exhibitions are open from a Tuesday through to a Sunday from 12 noon to 6pm and the Swedish caf is also open the same times.

At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris. on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

A fine setting for Swedish culture.

The Centre culturel suédois or Swedish Cultural Centre is the only office in France which represents Sweden, and in fact the only Swedish cultural centre abroad.
It organises many events, such as exhibitions. concerts. literary meetings and film screenings. as well as debates and seminars on major cultural issues.

You can also admire a permanent exhibition which is housed here: this is the art collection belonging to the Tessin Institute.

This important collection - which includes gems such as portraits by Gustaf Lundberg, Alexander Roslin and Adolf Ulrik Wertmüller - is an indicator of the artistic relationship between France and Sweden in the 17th century.

The collections of the Tessin Institute have been housed at the CCS since it opened in 1971 at the Hotel de Marle, in the Marais.

It was founded by Gunnar W. Lundberg, art historian and cultural advisor to the Swedish Embassy in Paris. In the 1960s, Lundberg prompted the Swedish government to acquire this particular mansion, or hôtel particulier. in order to showcase this collection of over 6,000 pieces in a setting worthy of the works of art.

Expository Essay Essay, Research Paper

Almost everyone has a favorite band. People buy CD s and tapes

to not only listen to the music that they like, but to support that band.

There are many, many different types of music, and usually a certain band

will fit into a specific type of music. I listen mostly to alternative/grunge

music. And by coincidence the three bands I m going to talk about are all

from the west coast. I am going to talk a little bit about three of my

favorite bands in that category: Pearl Jam, Everclear, and No Doubt.

Pearl Jam is a band from Seattle. They were one of the first

alternative bands to ever become popular from this area. The lead singer

of Pearl Jam is Eddie Vedder, he does the lead vocals and plays the

guitar. The rest of the band includes, Jeff Ament, (bass) Stone Gossard,

(guitar and vocals) Jack Irons, (drums) and Mike McCready, (guitar). A

couple of the songs that Pearl Jam does are Jeremy, Daughter, Smile, Spin

the Black Circle and Tremor Christ. Pearl Jam has a knack for writing

catchy lyrics that become very popular.

Everclear is a band from Portland. They are not as popular as Pearl

Jam, but they do have a large following of fans. The three band members

of Everclear are Art Alexis, (lead vocals, and guitar) Greg Eklund, (drums

and vocals) and Craig Montoya, (bass, and vocals). Their album together

is Sparkle and Fade, and it is one of the best albums I ve ever heard.

Among the may popular songs are Heroin Girl, Sparkle and Fade, and

Santa Monica. All of the lyrics are good, but there is a lot of profanity on

No Doubt is the last band, but is not the least. No Doubt has had a

number one album, Tragic Kingdom, and it is VERY popular. This band is

out of California. The band members are: Gwen Stefani, (lead vocals) Tom

Dumont, (guitar) Tony Kanal, (bass) Adrian Young, (drums and percussion)

and Eric Stefani (piano and keyboards) Gwen, the lead singer is the only

female in this band, and hers is the only voice you hear in all of the songs.

Some of their songs includes, Just a Girl, Spider Webs, and Excuse Me

Mister. All are popular and make an awesome album with all of the songs

These bands all are popular here in the Northwest and all have

popular albums out. People have shown their support of these bands by

buying their albums and requesting their favorite songs on the radio. Pearl

Jam, Everclear, and No Doubt are among my very favorite bands, and I

own all of their albums.
